Ingredients
- Beets - you can use any color of beets to prepare this air fryer beets recipe.
- Oil - I generally use sunflower or canola oil, but you can also use olive oil if that's what you have on hand.
- Herb and seasoning - you need dried parsley, salt, and ground black pepper.
Preparation
Start preparing your air fryer beets by heating your air fryer to 200°C (375°F).
Peel your beets and chop them into identical sizes.
Combine the beets, oil, parsley, salt, and pepper (photo 1).
Mix all the ingredients evenly.
Place the beets into the air fryer basket (photo 2).
Keep some space in between to help them cook quicker.
After five minutes of cooking, shake the basket to roast the beets evenly on all sides.
Continue cooking for about thirteen to fifteen more minutes, or until the beets turn soft --- shaking the basket regularly.
Transfer your air fryer beets into serving plates.
Garnish with some sea salt or fresh parsley, if desired.
Helpful tips
- Try to keep the sizes of the beets the same. It helps in cooking them at the same time and not overcooking the smaller ones.
- Instead of shaking the air fryer basket, you can also use the tongs with silicone to mix the beets.
- Feel free to use a toothpick to check if the roasted beets in the air fryer are soft --- and done.
FAQs
Absolutely.
Dried thyme is an excellent substitute for parsley --- it complements the earthiness of the roasted beets as well.
Aside from just sprinkling them with sea salt, they are excellent for making salads.
I typically use rucola and gorgonzola cheese --- the slight peppery bitterness from the rucola goes so well with the saltiness of the blue cheese and the sweetness of the roasted beets.
Don't overthink it. Just combine them with your favorite leafy greens and top with some cheese, and you're all set.
